MYCON Selected by Public Storage to Build New Facility

McKinney, TX, January 8, 2016 – MYCON General Contractors has been selected to build a new five-story, 199,950 square foot, air-conditioned facility for Public Storage (NYSE:PSA), according to MYCON’s vice president of office and industrial services, John Riggins.

Located at 4646 Harry Hines Blvd. in Dallas, Texas, the project scope includes demolition, site work and ground up construction built in compliance with the City of Dallas’ Green Building Program, Phase 2 standards.  Plans call for using a patented, multi-story freestanding structural steel framing system with a 10’x10’ grid of stackable steel tube columns running vertically from floor-to-floor thereby maximizing flexibility of the floor plan, expediting the construction process and reducing project costs.

“We’re very pleased to work with Public Storage on this urban infill project as they aggressively pursue their expansion efforts across Texas," says Riggins.  "Overall the self-storage industry is forecasted to grow at an average annual rate of 2.9 percent over the next four years according to industry analysts.  Demand for self-storage facilities in the Dallas/Fort Worth area is driven by population growth, a strong economy, robust labor market and a strengthening housing market,” adds Riggins.

Construction on the project started in the fall of 2015 and is targeted for completion in October 2016.  Merriman & Associates is the architect, and Bury is the civil engineer.
